Menstrual Headache Treatment
Menstrual migraine affects about 20–25% of female migraineurs in the general population, and 22–70% of patients presenting to headache clinics. In women diagnosed with menstrual migraine, perimenstrual migraine attacks are associated with substantially greater disability than their non-menstrual attacks.
We understand how frustrating and debilitating Menstrual headaches are
What is Menstrual Migraine?
The American National Headache Foundation states women experience migraine attacks three times more frequently than men; and menstrual migraine affects 60% of these women. They can occur during the five days starting two days before onset of menstruation until the third day of bleeding, immediately after the period, or during ovulation.
Menstrual migraine symptoms are similar to migraine without aura. It can be one-sided or both sides; throbbing headache accompanied by nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to bright lights and sounds. An aura may precede the menstrual migraine.
